Adas Israel Synagogue
Washington DCWashington’s oldest synagogue is today the Lilian & Albert Jewish Museum. The congregation was formed in 1869 and raised the funds necessary to dedicate the building in 1876. After 1908, the building had a variety of uses, including a bicycle shop, grocery store, delicatessen, etc. It also has moved locations several times, all in the name of urban progress.
