HNavy Yard Watch Box Patterson Park Pagoda
Patterson Park Pagoda
Baltimore, Maryland

Charles H. Latrobe designed this building in 1890 as an observatory to commemorate a battle to defend of Baltimore in the War of 1812. It reflects the bold Victorian style of the day – with some chic oriental influences thrown in. It was closed in 1951 and languished until its 2002 restoration. Latrobe was the grandson of Benjamin Latrobe, designer of the United States Capitol and considered the father of American architecture.
