Slave Quarters /Kitchen Brandon Plantation

Halifax County, Virgina

William Brandon developed his family’s plantation by adding the existing main house and this rare kitchen/slave house c. 1800. The outbuilding is notable for its overhanging eaves and batten hatches in place of windows. Noted craftsman Thomas Day contributed furniture and woodwork to the main building.
