Tobacco Barn
Durham County, North CarolinaMost tobacco barns in North Carolina were for flue-cured tobacco – named for the drying process. Indirect heat caused a leaf to loose 80 percent of its weight. North Carolina State University architecture students documented barn types and how you could identify the growing region and tobacco type by the shape of the barn.
