Hoskins House, Stagville Plantation
Durham, North CarolinaThe plantation of Richard Bennehan in Stagville was one of the largest in pre-Civil War North Carolina; the family owned almost 30,000 acres and nearly 900 enslaved people. This structure, thought to be an overseer’s house, dates from Revolutionary times and was purchased by Bennehan as he expanded Stagville.
