Tobacco Barn

These beautiful barns are fast disappearing as technology has changed. An educated estimate fixes the number of still-standing tobacco barns at around 50,000 – originally there were perhaps 500,000 throughout the state. You can still catch glimpses of a sagging, dilapidated barn driving the backroads.
